The short version: Puff's sensor readings never leave your Mac. There's no account, no analytics and no tracking — in the app or on this website.
The Puff app
- Sensor readings stay on your Mac. Puff reads CPU load, fan speed, thermal state, memory pressure, battery, disk activity, display sleep and whether an app has stopped responding — only to decide how Puff feels. None of it is sent anywhere.
- Mood diary. Puff keeps a week of its moods on your Mac (in
~/Library/Application Support/com.qc.puff) so it can make your mood card. It's never uploaded. Delete the folder to erase it. - License activation. When you enter your license key, Puff sends the key and a name for your Mac (for example “MacBook Pro”) to our payment provider, Dodo Payments, to activate it and occasionally check it's still valid. That's the only thing Puff sends over the internet.
- Updates. Puff checks our website for new versions. This request includes your app version and macOS version, like any download does.
This website
- No analytics, no ads, no tracking cookies.
- If you pick a creature in the demo, your browser remembers it locally. It's never sent to us.
- Our host, Cloudflare, processes standard request data (like IP addresses) to serve and protect the site.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, the merchant of record for Puff. They process your name, email, billing details and payment method under their privacy policy. We receive your email and order details so we can support your purchase. We never see your card number.
